10 Best Beach Destinations Under $80/Day

Beach vacations have a cost problem. The default options — Turks and Caicos at $150/day, Maui at $150/day — are genuinely beautiful. They're also priced for honeymoons, not regular trips. But great beaches exist across a wide range of budgets, and the sand doesn't know how much you're paying.

We filtered our 65 destinations for beach scores of 8+ and daily budgets under $80. Here's what came out.

The $60/Day Beach: Cancun

Cancun scores a perfect 10/10 on beach and it's one of the cheapest beach destinations from the US. The Hotel Zone beaches are postcard-perfect Caribbean turquoise. Flights from many US cities are $250–400. At $60/day budget, that includes a hostel or budget hotel, street food (tacos al pastor at $1 each), and local transport.

The bonus: nightlife scores 9/10. Cancun's club scene is famously intense. If you want a beach trip that continues after dark, this is it.

The No-Passport Beach: San Juan

San Juan is the best beach-plus-everything destination for US travelers. Beach score 10/10, no passport needed, flights from the East Coast under $200. The beaches themselves — Condado, Isla Verde, Flamenco on Culebra — are Caribbean-quality. But unlike a resort island, San Juan also has world-class street food (9/10), genuine nightlife (8/10), and 500 years of colonial history.

At $80/day it's the most expensive on this list, but the zero-logistics advantage (no currency exchange, no roaming charges, no visa) makes up for it.

The Budget Beach: Bali at $35/Day

Bali's beach score of 8/10 is slightly lower than the Caribbean options — the beaches are beautiful but some are rocky, and the famous ones (Kuta, Seminyak) are crowded. The real value is the combination: beach + surfing (9/10) + wellness (9/10) + food (9/10) at just $35/day.

A beach day in Bali: sunrise surf ($5 board rental), $2 smoothie bowl, afternoon at a beach club (sunbed $10), warung dinner for $3. Total: under $25 for a day that would cost $150+ in Hawaii.

Where Beach Meets Adventure: Costa Rica

Costa Rica only scores 8/10 on beach (the Pacific side has good beaches, the Caribbean side has better ones but fewer), but it's the best combo destination. Beach + adventure (10/10) + wildlife (9/10) + surfing (9/10) at $60/day. Morning surf, afternoon zip-line through cloud forest, sunset on the beach.
